12/Oct/2008
Buderim's community website has attracted new residents and reunited a long lost relative from England
Buderim has officially launched their CGDN website this month at www.buderim.qld.au
" We believe that we have now started a new era in community communication in Buderim”, said. Mr McMahon from the Buderim War Memorial Community Association (BWMCA).
John McMahon adds " we are grateful to Karen and Steve Chellingworth for their donation of the substantial website infrastructure which gives us an invaluable head start in required technology. "
The website includes a detailed guide to the ‘Must See’ tourist attractions in the area, business directory, history and events page. The website also features a ‘Where to stay’ section for tourists and a popular games page.
Steve Chellingworth, coordinator of www.buderim.qld.au comments: “We are constantly answering phone calls and emails from people interested in Buderim. These range from a person wanting advice on the best ways to get to a funeral in Buderim from New Zealand to details on forthcoming events, we even had someone from England trying to contact a long lost relative (yes we found him for them!).
“A very heart warming story is of a family who were coming to Australia, saw the web site and decided to check the place out. They went to the Australia Day celebrations here, fell in love with the place and the father took on the vacant position of Group Leader for the Buderim Scout Group, doing great work in the Community.” Said Mr. Chellingworth
